Jesús del Barrio Díez, President
Jesús del Barrio Díez is an architect who graduated from the School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSA Madrid) in 1980. He worked independently and in collaboration with engineers until 1985. After passing a public competitive examination, he became an architect for the Ministry of Finance, working in the Directorate General of the Land Registry (Catastro).
In 1989, he was appointed Deputy Director of Sports Infrastructure at the Spanish National Sports Council (Consejo Superior de Deportes). In this role, he initiated the construction of High Performance Sports Centres (CAR), the Sports Facilities Construction Plan for schools and local communities, the University Sports Facilities Plan, and grants for sports facilities intended for international events.
Later, as Head of the Architecture Department, he coordinated the High Performance Centres in Sierra Nevada, Madrid, and León, and oversaw the CAR in San Cugat. He was also responsible for monitoring Sports Technification Centres.
He has participated in international cooperation projects and sports infrastructure conferences in Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Uruguay, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico.
He has been an expert member of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN TC 315) on Spectator Facilities since 1995, and is President of SC-4 of the Spanish Sports Standards Group UNE-CT 147.
He has attended IAKS Congresses in Cologne since 1989 and is currently President of IAKS Spain.
Javier Dávila, Secretaria
Javier Dávila is a Technical Architect and Project Management Professional (PMP)®. He has over 25 years of experience in the field of building project development and is highly specialized in Construction Management, covering the technical, financial, and scheduling aspects of complex projects.
Noteworthy among his work is his role in Integrated Project and Construction Management for Ensanche 21 Zabalgunea, in the design and construction of the BAI Center (Business & Arts International Center)—the new Conference, Exhibition, and Performing Arts Centre in Vitoria-Gasteiz. He also served as Project Manager for the Futur Palau Blaugrana (Sports Arena) project for FC Barcelona in 2017.
He is currently the Business Development Manager for Sports Architecture at IDOM, responsible for the strategic development of future sports projects worldwide. This role has provided him with significant expertise in sports infrastructure, allowing him to work on projects across the globe in collaboration with clients and professionals.
Jorge Echevarría, Treasurer
Jorge Echevarría has extensive experience in sports architecture, which has led him to develop integrated projects that incorporate new technologies and renewable energy sources.
In addition to designing projects for both collective and individual housing, he has participated as a guest expert and speaker at various forums on sports architecture, where he has shared his broad expertise in the construction of sports facilities and buildings, including football and rugby fields, competitive and recreational swimming pools, sports cities, and high-performance training centres always with the aim of promoting and supporting sport.
